It's a sandwich, well kinda, 2 pieces of bread that has butter on them. Anything could go in it, popular choices are chips (thick cut fried), bacon or sausage (link). Hence the term, chips, bacon or sausage butty.

no Etta, that's not me, i was on the beach, under the umbrella, looking at the seadog, and taking random pictures. That was the first day I arrived at the beach. And i don't know about that guy in the pants, all the men there, if I remember correctly were wearing those type of pants.
